Turn your song into a music video

How to make a promo video for your song

A format, a photo of your artist and your song in, a vertical MP4 out, in five steps.

  1. 1. Pick a format Sign in and pick one of the 8 formats, from Vibing in the car to Rooftop at sunset. On 6 of them Lip-sync to my song is on and your artist sings the part; turn it off to put your artist in the format's ready-made clip instead.
  2. 2. Add your artist Upload a clear photo of one person facing the camera (PNG, JPG or WebP, up to 20 MB), or press Use a saved character. Then tick the line that confirms the face is yours or that you have the person's permission.
  3. 3. Add your song Upload a song (MP3, WAV, M4A or MP4, up to 200 MB) or pick one from My songs. The promo starts on the liveliest part of the song, picked for you; press Pick the part to use another, and set the Length from 5 seconds up to 10, or 15 with lip-sync.
  4. 4. Write the headline Type a hook of up to 80 characters, or press Write the headline for up to 3 suggestions based on the song's title and what you say it is about. Then choose the font, look, colors, position and size.
  5. 5. Generate and download Choose 480p or 720p under Quality; the price shows on the Generate button. Press Generate. The promo appears under Your promos in a few minutes; press Download to get the MP4.

What the song promo video maker makes

One vertical MP4 (9:16) of 5 to 15 seconds at 480p or 720p, with a part of your song as its sound and your headline, if you add one, on screen from start to end. The 8 formats are clips musicians post: Vibing in the car, Hearing it for the first time, Night walk with headphones, Studio session, On stage, Outfit check in the mirror, Dancing in my room and Rooftop at sunset. On 6 of them your artist can lip-sync: they are drawn into the format's scene from your photo and sing the part, for up to 15 seconds, with new moves each time. On Hearing it for the first time and Outfit check in the mirror, or with lip-sync off, your artist takes the place of the person in the format's ready-made clip, which keeps its scene and moves, for up to 10 seconds.

What a song promo costs

A promo is priced by the second: 5 credits at 480p and 10 at 720p, with or without lip-sync. 5 seconds at 480p is 25 credits, 10 seconds at 720p is 100, and 15 seconds at 720p is 150; the total shows on the Generate button before you press it. You don't need a paid plan: a credit pack's credits work too. A new web account's 20 credits don't cover the shortest promo, and its music-video credits pay for music videos only; the free daily top-up refills a balance to 10, no higher. Writing the headline and picking the part cost nothing, and a promo that fails is refunded.

Your song, your artist and your rights

Use a song you own the rights to or one you made on Solmi, and a photo of yourself, of a bandmate who agreed to it, or a saved character. Every promo asks you to confirm that the face is yours or that you have the person's permission, and the photo is checked automatically: a sexual or nude photo is refused before anything is charged. Promos made on a paid plan or with a credit pack come with commercial-use rights under Solmi's terms; creations on the free plan are for personal, non-commercial use.

Posting your promo on TikTok, Reels and Shorts

Solmi doesn't post for you or connect to your accounts. Download the MP4 from Your promos and upload it in the TikTok, Instagram or YouTube app, where you add the caption, the hashtags and a link to the song. The headline sits inside the area those apps leave clear: below the top bar, in the middle, or above the caption. Label the video as AI-generated where the app asks for it.

What the song promo video maker can't do

Each promo is one clip on one of the 8 formats, up to 10 seconds, or 15 with lip-sync; you can't upload a clip of your own as the format. Lip-sync needs singing in the part you pick: a part with too little singing, or one where the vocals start more than 3 seconds in, is refunded. When your artist takes the place of the person in a ready-made clip, the hair and clothes can stay the clip's. There are no lyric captions, only your headline. For a music video of the whole song, Solmi's AI music video generator makes one from the full track.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a promo video for my song?

Pick one of the 8 formats, upload a photo of your artist and tick the consent line, then upload your song or pick one you made on Solmi. The promo starts on the song's liveliest part. Write a headline or press Write the headline, choose 480p or 720p, and press Generate; the MP4 is ready in a few minutes.

Can I make a TikTok promo for a new release?

Yes. Upload the song, even before it is out, or pick one you made on Solmi, and the promo comes out vertical (9:16) for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. Solmi doesn't post it: download the MP4 and post it from your own account.

Does it lip-sync to my song?

On 6 of the 8 formats, yes: with Lip-sync to my song on, your artist sings the part you picked, for up to 15 seconds. The part needs singing in it, or the promo is refunded. Hearing it for the first time and Outfit check in the mirror don't lip-sync: your artist takes the place of the person in the format's clip.

How long can a song promo be?

From 5 seconds up to 10, or up to 15 with lip-sync, in whole seconds. A new promo starts at 10 seconds, and Pick the part moves it to any part of the song.

How much does a song promo cost?

5 credits a second at 480p and 10 at 720p, the same with lip-sync: 25 credits for 5 seconds at 480p, 100 for 10 seconds at 720p. A new web account's 20 credits don't cover one; credit packs and paid plans do. Writing the headline costs nothing, and a failed promo is refunded.

Can I use my own photo?

Yes: a clear photo of one person facing the camera, as a PNG, JPG or WebP of up to 20 MB, or a saved character. It has to be your face or the face of someone who gave you permission, and a sexual or nude photo is refused before anything is charged.
